1.1 Vocabulary
- brain .- Main organ of the central nervous system, located in the head; mind.
- spinal cord .- nerve tissue that runs through the vertebral column.
- neuron .- nerve tissue of the nervous system tha transmit information throughout the body.
- stimulus.- an external influence that causes a response.
- offspring.- a new organism produced by one or more parents; descendants; children.
- male.- person or animal of the masculine gender, men and boys.
- female.- person or animal of the feminine gender; women and girls.
- sexual reproduction.- the process of creating a new organism that uses both male and female.
- gamete .- a mature sexual reproductive cell.
- ovules .- female reproductive cell; egg
- sperm .- male reproductive cell
- fertilizatilization .- the joining of a sperm and egg in the process of reproduction.
- zygote.- a fertilized egg.
- embryo.- begining stage of a human, animal, or plant.
- fetus.- baby of a human or animal while inside the womb.
- womb.- uterus; female cavity where the embryo and fetus develop.
- pregnancy.- carrying a baby in the uterus.
- stage.- phase or period of time; cycle
- mating.- bringing together male and female for animal reproduction.
- spawning.- depositing eggs in large numbers by aquatic animals.
- oviparous.- animals that produce offspring from eggs.
- viviparous.- animals that develope inside the body of the mother.
