The Mystery of the Missing Sandwiches - Plural Nouns

The Mystery of the Missing Sandwiches

At Maplewood School, the fourth graders were excited for their picnic. They packed sandwiches, chips, cookies, and juices into their colorful backpacks.

When they arrived at the park, the trees were dancing in the wind, and birds were singing happily. The students spread their blankets on the grass and opened their lunches, but something was wrong.

“All my sandwiches are gone!” shouted Leo.
“Mine too!” said Carla. “And my cookies!”

The teacher gathered the students into a circle. “We need to look for clues,” she said.

Behind some bushes, they spotted tiny footprints and crumbs from cookies. The class followed the trail until they reached a group of mischievous squirrels sitting on tree branches holding tiny pieces of bread.

The students laughed. “The squirrels stole our snacks!”

They shared the remaining treats and enjoyed the sunny day. And from that afternoon on, the students always guarded their picnic lunches, especially from hungry squirrels.
